Here's an email from Dick Hovey; he emailed me and asked that I post these suggestions on the forum: ---------------------- I am a newcommer to your Thurs nite races and very happy to be out there having fun and a few afterwards. A few comments: The starting lines should be made longer in most cases twice or more longer. There are big boats out there and they chew up the line pretty quickly. With the short lines boats keep going if over early so make em longer.
Make the pin mark 85 degrees to the wind and hopefully close to the 1st windward mark, this will favor the pin and hopefully keep boats from barging at the committee boat,if a problem go 80 degrees.
Try not to have stbd roundings, this is waiting for disaster.Too many boats can collide.
Thanks for listening Good site. Dicker
PS Your code flag heading is great, but when spelling out when you get to the M you dont add an M, you use the 1st repeater. I learned that in the navy many moons ago.
----------------------
Admin note: I always wondered what those repeater flags were for! -Bob
