hey everybody,
the officers of windjammers want to apologize to everyone out on the race course last night for not having an RC out there.
we understand how much time and effort it takes to get a crew out there to go racing, and not having an RC is very disappointing.
thank you Bruce, Carol, Kevin and the rest of the crew on Secret for coming through and setting up a race course at the last minute.
we will do our best to make sure there is an RC out there every thursday from now on.
cheers ct

Yes BIG thanks to secret for bailing us out. Hiccup in the system but the course was great and the race was a fun one. Who carries whiteboards on their boat?

I Notified Fleet Captain Nick on Monday, June 20, at 6:51 am that I would be unable to run this race.. Why he failed to act on this I do not know. Glad everything worked out. JJC

Yeah Jim, I was amazed to see Bruce had spare white boards on his boat for the race. I wouldn't have been any more impressed had he pulled an inflatable mark out of his lazerette and set it up! Thanks very much Secret!
John, everything turned out fine anyway so don't worry about it. And we all hope to see "Witchcraft" on the water soon!

Nick is out on Block I sailing in BI Race Week. He may not be being very good about checking voice/email messages. I can appreciate, as most probably can, that his attention is elsewhere.
Thanks to everyone for their patience and good humor while we got set up.
The whiteboard was the back side of a paper chart (you all have large format paper charts right?). Fortunately Bruce had enough boat poles and a pigstick (look it up) to fly the flags (also carries a flag set for displaying racing flags). The hardest thing was a replacement for the start pin. I looked around and there it was, all lined up like we put it there - an oyster stake. So we stuck a flag on it and - Voila!
Not too many GP boats (0) but we did get a finish order for 26- and 27+. I'll post that after I get home tonight.

Nick has no access to his email on Block. I saw John on the list. Added 2+2. My crew grabbed a 30 pack carton and wrote a course on it, prepared to set up using the bell for a pin but was screwed for signal flags. Course wouldnt have been square. Signals would have been a mess. Was VERY relieved when Straight Up notified me of Secrets intentions of doing R/C. It's all good, Secret stepped up and the race was great fun. My hats off to Bruce, Kevin and all on Secret.

Not many GP starters on this one (in fact, NONE). They were all in BI - you know who you are..... Just my 2 cents but that might be a little indicator that the rest of the fleet doesn't care to sail chutes on Thursdays. It would have been a perfect night for it.
Here are the results which I also passed along to Nick for posting over on the web site:
Wind: 8-10sw
Course: DWNENS all classes (shortened at second N)
26-
Brilliant Disguise (OCS) IOMS Annelise Flying Cloud Esperance SPQR s/n 888 Elfin Gael Wind
27+
Blackhawk Savage No Doubt Decision Paikea L'arch de Noe Serendipity Straight Up Spirit Full Tilt Tippecanoe Laser 28 s/n 73228 Windy Juliette Fearless Allegro (should have started with 26-)
RC was:
Bruce Kuryla, Carol Kuryla, Larry Welch, Kevin Tisdall, Bob Golumb, Paul Fernald, Dennis Dawid, Nancy Herman, Jane Schofield, Cliff Banthin and two of his friends who shall remain nameless...
Yes, BD was OCS by about 2-3 seconds but they were going FAST all night and were first to finish.

For what it's worth Spirit finished between Straight Up and Full Tilt in the 27+ fleet. Guess that makes us Slightly Heeled? She now has a boat name so should be easier to identify.

Jim,
Sorry about that. I had you written down correctly in order but got the boat size wrong. So I placed you in the wrong fleet.
I have corrected the list above. I'll let Nick know to modify the list I sent him for the web site.
